This company has scammed us out of over $200 for a "In-depth inspection" on our heating system. This was months ago but we were using this company for servicing our A/C and heating unit for about a year and a new technician had thought he found a crack in our heating unit. This was a new unit and so we wanted to make sure we were safe even though a crack was unexpected. He showed us a picture of a line that did not seem like a crack but he said he spoke with the manager and they both thought it was a crack. They told us we needed to get a more indepth inspection to make sure as this can be very dangerous. So we paid over $200 to get this in depth inspection by another employee which took him about 15 mins to open our unit and to tell us that nothing was wrong with it. He said our unit looks new and the "crack" is a normal line and build for our newer unit. He said that they previous employee probably did not know what he was looking at since its a newer unit. So i paid over $200 just because their employee and manager did not know what they were looking at? The lack of experience costed me over $200. I brought this up to the manager and she said wanted to make sure for the "safety of our family." I am not sure if we got absolutely scammed or they lack the experience which costed us unnecessary money. The manager gave us a credit of like $35 to make us feel better. Avoid this company especially if you are not knowledgeable of your A/C and Heating units. They can take advantage of you. I want to make sure there is awareness of what they are doing.

Response from the owner:Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns and want to take a moment to clarify the steps that were taken during your visit. During your preventive maintenance service, which includes cleaning and verifying proper system operation, our technician observed what appeared to be a possible hairline fracture in the heat exchanger. Because heat exchangers are a critical safety component, even the possibility of a fracture should be investigated. A cracked heat exchanger can allow combustion gases—including carbon monoxide—to enter the air circulating through your home. This can pose health risks and can also increase the risk of further equipment damage if left unaddressed. To ensure proper function or lack of, the technician performed an initial test at no charge to help determine whether a fracture was present. Based on those findings our office discussed additional options with you. You then approved moving forward with Secondary Testing. Testing was performed using industry-standard methods to identify small or hard-to-detect fractures in heat exchangers. To help offset the cost, we provided a 25% discount on this service, along with the additional $35 refund you mentioned. At no point was there any intent to mislead—our recommendation for further testing was based entirely on the potential safety concern and the responsibility we have to ensure your system is operating safely. We always aim to be transparent, thorough, and proactive when it comes to our customers' comfort and safety. If you have any remaining questions we are more than happy to go over everything with you.

Hard to believe it is 2026 now. We have been getting outstanding service from these guys/and gals all the way back to 2017. Back then, they were Viking Mechanical, then it was Empire Heating and Air and now they are the Mize Guys (Mize Family owned business). That is all the more reason to support them!!! During this period of time, we have had every 6 mth service (Spring A/C and Fall Heating) on the original 2006 system that was built into our home (NO, Mize did not install the original system and we could not wait to get rid of the original contractor either). Mize was our first and only choice for the new HVAC replacement system install. Tremendous cost savings on the units so we joined their "Wisest" Protection Plan which gets you (2) two scheduled visits a year, a 15% discount on all repairs, pre-season scheduling, replacement filters, and most important, Priority Service 24/7. To top it all off, Connor is their son and did a tremendous job with our install in Jan 2025 and now with our service every 6 months. In fact, Connor was just here last week.

Very responsive company with great representatives. Coral made the appt to meet my needs and was super helpful. I called 10 companies that supposedly offered "Emergency Service" 24/7 and none of them could come on Sunday. I called Mize and talked to Conner and he was here less than an hour later. And less than an hour later my furnace was working again.

Absolutely no other reason to call anyone else! Fast response. Found the problem in 20 minutes. Two other companies spent days and hours, frying the new parts they installed. What a relief to find “friends” in the HVAC business. As an updated follow-up: “Are you elderly, like me? Or do you have senior aged loved ones?” Mize Guys Org and its employees show a special affection and a sincere concern for those who are vulnerable, or insecure about approaching a company regarding their HVAC “mysteries”. Their Techs have become our friends, always welcome in our home. Never! Never! will you need to worry or be suspicious. “Now isn’t that just how it’s supposed to be?” UPDATE PER Our most recent bimonthly inspection: Referencing Christian & Nick; These “Guys”, are “sooo” professional, and so sincerely friendly and accommodating, for us having gained two new friends that all there is left to say is the following: 1). 100% satisfied (cost, quality-workmanship, speed of completion, educating using understandable explanations, no salesmanship pressure!, and they demonstrate a sensitivity to home surroundings protecting it against the work environment). 2). Had Mize guys come out to look at my A/C unit and there service tech did a great job explaining and diagnosing what was going on with my system he was very up front and honest ! He explained what it could need in the future without trying to sell me on somthing i didn’t need at this time in the end it was a simple issue that was resolved through his thourogh diagnostic procedures! I will have them back for any future HVAC needs

Went to Mize Guys since they bought out Empire Mechanical. Had great experiences with Empire, cannot say enough. Recently had Mize out when our AC stopped working and they wanted $1,300 to replace breakers and update electrical insisting nothing was wrong with the unit. Got a second opinion that found a leak in the coolant line and cleaned a connector, unit fired right up and cost less than $200. Recommend shopping around.

We have been using Mize Guys for our commercial and residential services exclusively Mostly because Customer service is outstanding work is excellent stand by their product and go above and beyond. I have used plenty other HVAC companies in my kind of Business, which did good work, but nothing compared to the Mize Guys The crew are excellent and what they do they communicate with you on every step of the way and if they can’t get just a repair done, they’re fair on telling you whats wrong give you recommendations and Solutions So my recommendation if you need HVAC service, don’t always look at the big box names give Mize guys a call promise You, you won’t be disappointed Julio

called and asked to a tune up on our old AC unit and ended up paying $240 for the tech to turn the system on and tell me it’s working and it’s old. brought it up and was ignored and never followed up with

I can’t recommend The Mize Guys strongly enough. They installed a new wine cooling system over two and a half years ago which stopped working recently. Although it was definitely far out of warranty, they stood by their work, persuaded the equipment supplier to replace the failed component, out of warranty, and got the system running again for a very reasonable cost. Throughout the process all the staff were very professional and friendly.

Connor was a phenomenal technician! He was able to fix my heater in the initial first visit (they were able to come within 24 hours of my call) Very kind, professional & knowledgable. We have been Mize Guys customers since moving here to Auburn in 2022. And since day 1, our heating and cooling system has been in the capable hands of Conner Mize , our assigned technician. Conner is deeply familiar with the design, stability and health of our system. We literally sleep better at night knowing that we can depend on him for quickly addressing any issues that arise with our system. Needless to say, living here in Auburn, where temperatures are extreme during both summer and winter, dependable indoor climate control is critical to say the least.
